GaitWay to the Brain
Remote Workshop
Date & Time:
August 15 & 16, 2024
9 AM - 4 PM
Location:
Zoom
This workshop covers the neuroscience behind GaitWay to the Brain, program activities, and tools for enhancing client outcomes. Video demonstrations illustrate successful implementation, challenges, and protocol customization and management for your caseload. GaitWay to the Brain is designed to build or rebuild the brain to improve attention, learning retrieval, and overall brain function. Activities promote a change in a brain's wiring (neuroplasticity) by boosting sensory input (bottom-up plasticity) and training new cognitive tasks (top-down plasticity).
Session led by speech pathologist and brain building expert, Robin Harwell (M.A., CCC-SLP).
You will discover a variety of brain building activities and tools, including:
Brain Gym®
Bal-A-Vis-X
Drumming activities for timing & rhythm
Interhemispheric integration
Forbrain ®
Modulated Music for improved listening
Sequencing activities for improving memory
Visual-Vestibular integration

-
It is a program designed to build or rebuild a brain’s ability to pay attention for better learning, retrieval of that learning and improving function and performance.
It includes activities that change a brain’s wiring (neuroplasticity) through increased sensory input (bottom up plasticity) as well as training new mental activities (top down plasticity.)
-
It can be, and has been, applied in hospital and clinic rehabilitation centers by physical, occupational and speech therapists, health care providers, Regular Education as well as Special Education teachers, Riding Instructors, Parents, and Caregivers.
-
Anyone interested in learning how the brain works, why it doesn’t and how to change that.
Anyone who has a passion for the science of building the brain.
Anyone who either has or has someone in their family with a neurological challenge.

Robin is a licensed and certified Speech Pathologist with over 45 years working with patients, clients, students, riders, teachers, parents, caregivers, etc.
She developed this brain-building approach, based on the neuroscience, in 2001 in a hospital setting.
She has presented this workshop information to therapists and others throughout the U.S. and internationally.
She began incorporating brain-building with ManeGait’s Riders in 2010. The pilot program for GaitWay to the Brain was introduced in 2012 and has been growing ever since.
Participant Fee: $400
Optional Add-on: In-person observation once the workshop is complete. $200 per person, per day.
